Het afrofuturisme bestaat al lang, maar is nu een globale stroming die alle velden van de kunsten, cultuur en activisme omvat en door een sterke do-it-yourself spirit gedreven is. Samen met de vooraanstaande afrofuturistische denker en activiste, Rasheedah Phillips (oprichter van The Afrofuturist Affair) heeft WORM dit unieke festival ontwikkeld.
